Work on Virtual Machine
Connect to Virtual Machine
Prerequisites
- An assembly with an assigned Virtual Machine (Set Up a Virtual Machine)
- Active assembly session (Reserve an assembly)
Steps
1. Open the Connection Dialog
- Click the Connect button on the Overview, the Assembly Page, or in the My Assemblies dropdown in the navigation bar.
2. Select a Virtual Machine and Connect
- Select a VM in the opening dialog and click Web. In most cases, there will only be one option. A desktop connection to your assembly opens in a new browser tab.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The connect dialog lists no VM | No VM is assigned to the assembly | Ask an admin to assign one — see Set Up a Virtual Machine |
| The Connect button is not available | No active session on the assembly | Reserve the assembly and wait for the session to become active |
| The desktop shows a black screen | The VM is still starting up | Wait a moment and refresh the browser tab |
| Login fails or the session closes immediately | Wrong VM credentials stored in vHaaS | Ask an admin to re-enter the credentials — see Manage an Existing Virtual Machine |
| The desktop opens but the assembly hardware is missing | Device is powered off, or the assembly profile does not match the wiring | Power the device on via the Assembly Manager; otherwise see Assembly Profile Integration |
Connection Features
Clipboard
You can copy and paste text between your local machine and the VM in both directions.
Console Tab
The assembly page has a Console tab that gives you direct terminal access to the VM without going through the connect dialog.
Transfer your testsuite to the VM
- You can use Gitlab or Github to clone a testsuite onto the VM. For that you have to add a SSH key to vHaaS.
Configure the Virtual Machine
To successfully send and receive messages, the channel mapping between CANoe and the VN device must be configured. This can be done within CANoe under: CANoe: Hardware -> Channel Mapping
Hint
Make sure that the VN-Interface, which is part of the Assembly is powered on. Otherwise it can`t be selected within CANoe.
