Manage Clusters

Prerequisites

  • Organization Admin role in your organization

Create a Cluster

A Cluster and at least one Partition are required before Assemblies or Virtual Machines can be registered. Once the Cluster exists, continue with Set Up a Virtual Machine.

Steps

1. Open the Dialog

Open the Create Cluster dialog via Clusters in the Explorer, or via the menu in the navigation bar.

2. Create Cluster

The Cluster reference must be globally unique. Use the format [UPPERCASE]-[NUMBER] (e.g. CLUSTER-100), 9–14 characters — the platform enforces this.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause Solution
"Invalid cluster reference" error Cluster reference format is incorrect Use [UPPERCASE]-[NUMBER], 9–14 characters (e.g. CLUSTER-100)
"Cluster reference already exists" Another Cluster already uses this reference Choose a different globally unique Cluster reference

Create a Cluster Partition

You can create a Partition directly in the Create Cluster dialog when setting up a new Cluster.

To add a Partition to an existing Cluster:

Steps

1. Navigate to the Cluster

Open the Cluster's General Information view in the Explorer.

2. Create a Partition

In the General Information view, create a new Partition and set the number of Assembly slots.

Edit or Delete a Cluster Partition

Warning

Before deleting a Partition, ensure no Assemblies with assigned VMs exist in it. The platform will reject the deletion otherwise.

Steps

1. Navigate to the Cluster

Open the Cluster's General Information view in the Explorer.

2. Delete the Partition

In the General Information view, edit or delete the Partition with the or icon on the partition you want to edit or delete.

Add an IP address

Cluster IP addresses identify hardware devices connected to the Cluster. Each IP address is part and therefore related to one Cluster Partition.

Steps

1. Open the IP Addresses section

Navigate to the Cluster in the Explorer and open the IP Addresses tab.

2. Add the IP address

Create a new entry. There are currently these supported IP types: PSM_Gen1, WagoNI, ClusterServer

Edit or remove an IP address

Steps

1. Open the IP Addresses section

Navigate to the Cluster in the Explorer and open the IP Addresses tab.

2. Edit or delete the IP address

In the IP Addresses tab, edit or delete the IP address with the or -icon on the entry you want to edit or delete.
